A racist and disgusting circular (ta3meem) issued by the Southern governate of Nabatieh asks municipalities in the area to forbid Syrian refugees from leaving their homes this weekend.
Lebanon’s Nabatieh Governorate ordered all of its municipalities to forbid Syrian refugees from leaving their homes from May 14 at 6pm until May 16 at 8am.

Signed by Governor of Nabatieh Hassan Fakih, the circular asks that Syrian refugees remain in their homes from Saturday May 16th – 6 PM until Monday May 18th – 8 AM.
As Washington Post reported Nader Durgham points out in his tweet, that amounts to 38 hours of lockdown.
This is not the first time that municipalities in Lebanon enforce racist and haphazard rules targeting Syrian refugees. Often branded as “necessary” rules for security, these decisions routinely target refugees despite the fact that security incidents occur across nationalities. Previously, ridiculous rules such as curfews had been put into effect for refugees for no reason whatsoever.
