Cringeworthy Arab Parody Of Britney Spears Song Goes Viral On TikTok

Lebanese-Canadian singer Karl Wolf has shared a video of his “Arabized” performance of the Britney Spears 1998 hit “Baby One More Time”. In the video, the user replaces the song’s lyrics with words that portray the Arab man’s experience.

@karlwolfs It’s in my genes 🧬 sorry @britneyspears #arabtok #arabic #arabian #karlwolf #remix #parody #parodysong #babyonemoretime #lebanese #fyp #foryou #middleeastern ♬ My Genes – Karl Wolf

The edit focuses on the song’s chorus and features genius levels of innovation, such as switching the word loneliness to arabness, and exchanging “give me a sign” for “oh fuck my life.”

The parody mostly hinges on the stereotypical portrayal of Arabs as very hairy. Singing about his hairy chest, Wolf says that “it’s in my genes.” Before going on to add about his struggles of having a moustache since he was nine. Looking at the state of his moustache, that did not strike us as the most truthful statement.

Of course, Britney Spears’ iconic tune is still as catchy as ever, which has cursed me into having the new lyrics stuck in my head. In the end, after watching this TikTok, I would have to agree with the video’s last line: “ayre b hazi, one more time.”
