Poor Little Fares: Karam Launches Sexist Outburst Against Myriam Fares

Lebanese singers Myriam Fares and Fares Karam have been embroiled in a row over the poster design of a concert in Saudi Arabia for a few days now, and the fighting keeps getting more and more childish.

The “Bit 2assir Tannoura” singer had canceled his participation in the concert after he felt slighted because the poster made Myriam more central than him. This also prompted him to say she had a “nafsiyye m7ammda,” which loosely translates to sour personality.

After hearing Karam’s statements, Myriam Fares clapped back saying that his comments were shameful, and went on to add that she had no involvement in the design of the poster. Moreover, Myriam stated that she had personally chosen to work with him, and that she had been under the impression that he was a stand-up guy. This prompted Karam to tweet saying that he remembers when Fares used to sing at Awtar and would run after him to take pictures “and the rest is well known,” presumably alluding to sexual acts. His childish rant did not end there, as he chose to hashtag the accusation with “2a7bet ekhir zaman” or whores of the times.

Of course the ridiculousness did not end there, Mohammad Iskandar’s son Fares (seriously? We have to include a third Fares in this one article?) chose to chime in and say that he was proud to be called a misogynist. Lol. Naturally, we weren’t surprised. As the son of Lebanon’s poster child for sexist songs and lame tunes, it is only normal that Iskandar would say that Myriam is behaving this way “2ad ma mari2 3alayha zokour” (because she has experienced many men), once again making comments relating to her sex life.

Karam’s misogynist comments are that of a man whose ego is easily bruised and one who gets worked up over issues as petty as the design of a poster. Insecurity about the world passing by his retrograde sexist singing has clearly manifested itself in this whole fiasco.
