Fuel Subsidies To Be Completely Lifted As Of Next Week
Fuel subsidies are to be completely lifted as of next week, reports local media station MTV.
The price of fuel has witnessed a staggering increase over the past year as the Central Bank has been gradually lifting fuel subsidies. After queuing for gas and withstanding the price hikes, citizens are pushed to the point of desperation – with lifting subsidies being manipulated into “good” news by those in charge.
Lebanon has recorded among the highest inflation rates worldwide as the Lebanese lira continues to plummet, with basic goods and services becoming unattainable for most of the population. The complete lifting of fuel subsidies, although expected, is an event citizens have been dreading.
With no reform in sight, citizens have lost hope and are bracing themselves for the worst.
