Wadih El-Sheikh And His Bizarre Superstar Football Friends
Lebanese singer Wadih El-Sheikh yesterday found himself at the center of yet another social media fiasco that can only be described as hilarious.
In an interview during an event, Sheikh was asked who he would be supporting at the World Cup this year to which he answered: “Honestly, despite the fact that the players are my friends, I’m not interested”.
This hilariously prompted a reaction from three international football stars who jumped in to make an incredible joke. Argentina’s Javier Mascherano, and Lucas Vazquez and Nacho Fernandez from Spain shared videos stating that they were good friends with Sheikh and telling him to come to Qatar.
It wasn’t long before the jokes and reactions rolled in across Twitter, with some people even presuming that Sheikh had paid the players to share the videos.
Sheikh is the same singer who was not recognized by MTV reporter Joyce Akiki at a protest back in October 2019, during which she asked him “meen 7adertak?” – a question that clearly did not sit well with him.
Oh well, maybe he can record a World Cup song for 2026.
