Young Lebanese Inventor Generates Electricity With Unconventional Design
Mohamad Essebsi, a 25 year old man living in Akkar, has garnered the world’s attention after creating a wind energy system with recycled plastic barrels. His unconventional fan design has managed to generate enough electricity to light up 6 residential buildings in his neighborhood in Benin, Akkar.
Essebsi had been forced to drop out of university at the onset of the crises, having been pursuing a degree in French Literature and Administrative Informatics.
He outlines that his intention was to generate an environmentally friendly solution to the country’s electricity crisis. He believed his system would go well alongside the existing solar solutions implemented in the country as a kind of hybrid generation system.
The fan’s design, which includes 8 cut plastic barrels attached to metal poles, promises an affordable green energy solution to electricity in Lebanon, especially if it can be recreated on a mass scale. Let’s hope more young inventors are given the opportunity to positively impact the country in the coming years.
