Habtoor Group chairman, Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, has announced that the mall at the Habtoor AHG tourist complex is set to reopen by the end of the year, rebranded as
Sooq Avenue.
Earlier this year, Sin el Fil’s iconic Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace reopened. At the time, Al Habtoor had stated that he did it to “support the Lebanese economy and provide jobs to its people,” promising to soon reopen the mall too.
This time, Al Habtoor said that he was looking to “create job opportunities and contribute to the economic recovery”. Habtoor once again emphasized that he was not looking for an immediate profit from the endeavor.
To encourage businesses to reopen at the mall, tenants at the new Sooq Avenue will get a free year of rent after committing to the complex. The mall had previously been operated by LeMall, before closing at the start of the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020.
Al Habtoor also encouraged “businessmen in Lebanon and abroad to join this initiative and contribute to the recovery of the Lebanese economy.”
More information can be found on the new mall’s website.
