Video: Exploring An Abandoned 19th Century Beirut Home

Lebanon’s urban landscape is filled with a plethora of hidden beauties, including plenty of abandoned gems just calmly sitting amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Whether it’s an abandoned restaurant in Raouche, or some haunted spots in the city, a walk through Beirut’s abandoned halls can be quite an experience.

In this video, we explore a 19th century house in Karantina. Built in the Ottoman architectural style, the house is only 5 km from the port and was abandoned during the civil war. Today, it sits on the verge of collapse after taking extensive damage from the Beirut Blast. Inside, decade-spanning artifacts can be found and we just wish the walls could speak to tell us their stories.
