A new social media platform that looks (and works) a lot like Twitter, Threads is Meta’s latest release. Self-described as a “sanely-run” competitor to Twitter, Threads was created mostly as a reaction to Elon Musk’s seemingly erratic way of running the blue bird platform. With controversial measures like introducing verification fees and imposing a restrictive daily limit of 600 tweets per user, both the platform and its CEO have faced significant criticism over the past year.
But we digress. Onto Threads! Sign up for the platform and you can can sync it with your Instagram account. It even allows you to autofill your bio and profile picture and to follow your Instagram friends for ease of use. Here’s what has been going on so far on Threads:
Mark Zuckerberg is giving himself a round of applause:
Netflix is being cute:
Hadi Osseily is (still) hilarious:
DM for price?
Farixtube is there:
Jessica’s mom thinks she’d be good at Threads:
Nancy Ajram is there:
People are digging it (including our very own Taleen!)
Aaaand we’re still getting the hang of it:
In general, the feedback so far is that it is a less intense, less angry version of Twitter. Will you be joining?
