Stray Dog Gives Abandoned Infant A Second Chance At Life

A newborn infant abandoned in the Northern city of Tripoli was reportedly saved by a stray dog yesterday, in a miraculous event that has many bewildered. The incident unfolded when the dog dragged the infant down the street in the black plastic bag it had been discarded in. The cries were heard by passersby near Tripoli’s Municipality, and they were able to save the baby, dropping the it at a nearby hospital.

Sources revealed that the infant was likely abandoned in a garbage bin somewhere in the city before being discovered by the stray dog, and is reported to be in good health despite the condition that it was found in.

Abandoned infants have been an increasingly frequent sight since the beginning of the crisis, as many families living below the poverty line are unable to secure basic necessities for their children, such as food, water, electricity, and healthcare. The inaccessibility to proper reproductive healthcare is also a major factor, as abortion is still considered illegal in Lebanon.

The stray dog, now our own four-legged hero, allowed some light of hope to shine through such a harrowing reality. Luckily, it was able to locate the infant and alert passersby.
