Everyone’s Biggest Fear Happened: The Teleferique Stopped Mid-Air

For the first time since 1965, Lebanon’s gondolas of the Teleferique aerial cableway have malfunctioned and stopped mid-air. Passengers are currently stuck in the cabins awaiting to be pulled back to the base stations by operators and civil defense units.

The Teleferique team took to Instagram to confirm that all passengers are safe.

A video circulating on social media shows two of the cabins tangled up. Anyone with a fear of heights can imagine what the passengers are experiencing!

We hope all passengers return safely to land.

Despite this isolated incident, the attraction is a unique one that offers breathtaking views of the bay of Jounieh and the surrounding city.
