Lebanese Designer Transforms Dull Posters In Hamra Into Adorable Art

Ever wandered through the vibrant streets of Beirut and found yourself underwhelmed by the boring A4 posters promoting handy services or products? So did graphic designer Amid Khattar, and he took matters into his own hands to bring a delightful transformation to these neglected ads.

Khattar started this awesome mission to jazz up the vintage ads that were just hanging around and aging. He found weathered posters on the walls in Hamra and worked his graphic design magic to turn them into eye-catching pieces so they’re more likely to grab a pedestrian’s attention. He slaps these fresh designs where he found them, next to the old poster, giving it a much-needed upgrade!

But this isn’t just your run-of-the-mill art project. Along with adding a little flair to the city’s walls, this project goes above and beyond by supporting local businesses and services in the coolest way possible. This is particularly heartwarming considering the fact that most of these service providers do not have the means to self-promote in an impactful way.

As the iconic Sharpay Evans once said: “It’s out with the old, and in with the new.” Next time you’re in Beirut, keep an eye out for Amid’s art!
