Lebanese Drag Queen Wears Kuffiyeh Dress In Recent Magazine Shoot

Anya Kneez, the iconic Lebanese drag queen whose designs turned heads on RuPaul’s Drag Race, recently participated in a photoshoot with New York-based Paper Magazine. The project, titled “Clash of the Prints,” featured some of Brooklyn’s most seasoned drag queens, highlighting the boldness of queer fashion juxtaposed with the realm of quiet luxury.

And though all the drag queens stunned in their vibrant designs, Anya Kneez stood out with a look made entirely out of Palestinian kuffiyehs.

The shoot intended to illustrate the revolutionary nature of queer fashion, as a tool to not only empower the queer community but also allow minorities the platform to showcase their culture with pride. Artists have always used fashion to deliver political messages as well, highlighting humanitarian causes through creativity.

Anya calls on her followers to donate to the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund and to stop participating in commercial activities that fund genocide. She also writes in the caption of her post: “Nothing makes me happier than when I am able to be political with my art and this was the moment to do it.”

A Lebanese drag queen who has always championed Arab culture in the Western creative spheres, Anya, alongside many other artists, continues to make us proud. For the full article, click here.
