Falafel Abu Nabil: One of Beirut’s Oldest Falafel Gems

Every falafel lover in Beirut knows that Falafel Abu Nabil has upheld a 60+ year-old tradition. Since 1958, this Beirut gem has been serving some of the city’s best falafel. What started as a humble shack has since become a beloved landmark, steeped in memories and tradition.

In the 1950s, Abu Nabil would spend his days wrapping hot sandwiches for the students of Raml Al-Zarif School and passersby in Beirut. The sandwich was a blend of authentic Beiruti flavors: a fresh falafel ball, homemade tarator, vegetables picked that same day, and crispy pickled turnips.

The recipe has remained unchanged for over 60 years, and the taste of their falafel still tells the story of old Beirut.

In 1975, the shop was passed down to his sons, and every time people passed by, their senses were immediately hit by the fresh, irresistible smell of falafel, pulling them in without a second thought.

And it wasn’t just the Beirutis who visited this gem! People visited from all over Lebanon to try their mouthwatering falafel.

Falafel Abu Nabil is located on Aisha Bakar Street, next to Dar Al-Fatwa. If you’re craving the taste of old Beirut that generations still remember, the shop is open every day, ready to welcome you!
