Telecom Minister Discusses Potential Starlink Partnership With President Aoun

This morning, Telecom Minister Charles Hajj met with President Aoun to present the ministry’s projects and discuss a potential Starlink partnership.

During the meeting, Hajj outlined the core objectives of the ministry’s current work program. He also provided updates on projects in development, with a focus on improving national connectivity and enhancing digital infrastructure across the country.

One of the major points of discussion was the possibility of cooperating with Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet company. While details remain limited, such a partnership could represent a significant step forward for Lebanon’s internet capabilities.

Starlink operates a network of low-earth orbit satellites that deliver high-speed internet directly to users, bypassing the need for traditional infrastructure. This could offer an alternative for regions in Lebanon that currently suffer from poor or unreliable connectivity.

Access to a satellite-based system may also help reduce pressure on existing networks and expand internet coverage nationwide. Although no formal agreement has been announced, the discussion signals potential momentum toward integrating global technologies into Lebanon’s telecom landscape.

The collaboration, if realized, could play a role in shaping a more resilient and modern digital future for Lebanon.
