Gucci x Dazed MENA Spotlight Beirut Kitsch at the Iconic Sporting Beach Club

There are places in Beirut where time stands still. Not because nothing changes, but because certain things refuse to. Sporting Beach Club is one of those places.

Fashion magazine Dazed MENA teamed up with Gucci to shoot their latest cover at Beirut’s most iconic beach club, turning faded umbrellas, chest hair, and salt-crusted concrete into the backdrop of a full-blown Mediterranean fantasy. It’s a love letter to the Lebanese version of cool: chaotic, committed, and unapologetically kitsch.

The campaign features a film titled “A Game of Backgammon” by film director Jad Rahme that captures Beirut’s effortless glamour.

“The beach club subsumes a special brand of kitsch that’s not only unique to Beirut, but also the only real continuity in a city forced to perpetually rebuild,” wrote Dazed editor Zein Karam.

Photographer Yasmina Hilal brings Beirut to life with a lens that feels both intimate and cinematic. The soft Mediterranean light and the textures of a Beirut that’s worn but never tired.

Her visuals don’t simply showcase Gucci’s timeless pieces. Instead, they document a living, breathing city where fashion isn’t separate from life. Especially at Sporting Beach Club, where time stands still (and unbothered).
