What to Order at Persian Cup in Beirut (If You Never Tried It)

If you’ve never had Persian food, you’re seriously missing out. Persian Cup in Beirut is a must-visit for anyone looking to try something new. We recently stopped by for the first time, so here’s what we tried and recommend.

First timers, keep in mind that their food will have you feeling satiated after a few bites. With their generous portions and protein-based main dishes, make sure you don’t underestimate how filling their dishes are.

We were three people, so this is what we found was the perfect amount:

Start off with their Salad Shirazi, a refreshing mix of cucumber, tomato, and onion in lemon dressing. It’s a great starter before you dig into your main dishes. Order it with a side of Mast Khiyar, a Persian cucumber yogurt dip.

Their main dishes all come with a generous serving of rice to complement their kebabs, but their Tahdig rice cake with saffron is a MUST. The rice cake comes with a perfectly crisp layer on top.

Instead of ordering one of their main dishes, you can choose skewers of your choice and a Tahdig rice cake. We decided to go with the Kabab koobideh (grilled beef kafta) and Kabab barg skewers (filet mignon beef). They’re served with a side of veggies, including grilled tomatoes, fresh onions, and peppers.

But you obviously don’t need THAT MUCH rice for two skewers. We decided to also order their Fessenjoun with chicken, an exquisite Persian stew that will remind you of Lebanese tabekh. The base is a mix of molasses and walnut, making it a delightfully sweet and sour dish. Perfect for the Tahdig rice cake!

The total came out to be about $64 (including soft drinks), which is about $21 per person. Given the generous portions, that’s a great deal for a filling and satisfying meal that won’t break the bank.

Persian Cup in Beirut is a must-visit gem! Make sure to follow them on Instagram for a look at their delicious dishes.
