Al Jadeed Podcast Pits Wife and Mistress Against Each Other

Prime-time entertainment loses all meaning in Lebanese media as Al Jadeed teases new episode of their #حكي_social podcast, pitting wife and mistress against each other.

The channel recently posted a teaser of their upcoming podcast episode set to air tonight at 7 PM, showing a heated discussion between a wife and her husband’s mistress. You can watch the teaser here:

The women are shown having a back-and-forth, with Lamia (the wife) bashing Dania (the mistress) for being a home wrecker, arguing that “even a prostitute is better than a mistress.” Dania claps back by claiming she actually helps the marriage, saying, “He comes back home with more energy to deal with you.”

Here are some of the reactions to the teaser:

Sensational content like this has become a common way for TV networks to attract attention and engagement. Instead of offering informative or thoughtful programming, they focus on dramatized personal conflicts that generate clicks and comments.

This kind of spectacle routinely comes at the expense of women, reducing certain experiences to shallow drama. The episode reinforces a tired formula that pits women against each other for audience engagement.

This isn’t the first time that Al Jadeed has stirred controversy with one of their shows. In fact, they faced intense backlash earlier this year for their show Mini Mafia, featuring Lebanese children engaging in sectarian debate.

So, Al Jadeed doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to coming up with good, entertaining shows with at least some substance.
