Diabetes is Calling with this Delicious Knefe 3a Chocolat from this Beirut Spot!

Beirut never runs out of sweet surprises, and the latest one comes straight out of Aisha Bakkar. The well-loved sweets shop Al Makari Sweets has taken Lebanon’s favorite breakfast dessert and given it a bold twist: Knefe 3a Chocolat. Keep in mind this isn’t just regular knefe doused in chocolate sauce (which already exists), this is a new twist!

Instead of the traditional semolina mix, this version uses a chocolate semolina base that holds a layer of soft, stretchy cheese, all topped with a drizzle of sweet 2atr (sugar syrup). The combination of the semolina crunch with the comforting chocolatey flavor and the decadent cheese is unmatched.

And this shop isn’t new to satisfying sweet cravings. They’re actually best known for their exemplary Mfat’aa, a classic Beiruti dessert made from tahini, sugar, turmeric, and pine nuts. Making just one pot takes over four hours of careful, hand-stirred work, proof of the craftsmanship that goes into everything here.

Alongside these specialties, you’ll also find a lineup of beloved Lebanese desserts like baklewa, sfouf, mafroukeh, and plenty more to tempt you.

If you thought knefe couldn’t get any better, wait until you try it with chocolate.
