Book Bazar Starts New Chapter as a Book Café in Beirut

Book Bazar, one of Beirut’s most beloved secondhand bookshops, recently transformed into a book café!

Long known for its endless stacks of used books and its treasure trove of old novels, comics, and cookbooks, it reopened as a book café where you can linger for a while, drink something warm, and read surrounded by stories.

From Bookshop to Café

Book Bazar has been a fixture in Hamra for decades, a go-to place for locals seeking secondhand gems. It offers a wide selection across genres and languages.

This is what it looked like before:

The recent change gives it a dual identity: still a bookstore, but now a comfortable café too. A space not only for browsing and buying, but also for reading, relaxing, and meeting friends.

What’s new inside

The café/lounge area: A more organized, cleaner lounge where visitors can take a seat with a coffee. Something new for those who used to just come in to browse!

Book sections by language: The English collection is now alongside the café on the main floor, French books are upstairs, and Arabic section is downstairs.

For Book Bazar to reinvent itself as a café and bookstore is a wonderful transformation. It shows adaptation, preserving the old while embracing something new.
