Where to Catch a Play in Beirut: 7 Theaters You Should Know About

Want to pick up a new hobby, or are you just so cool that you love theater hopping? If you’re looking to catch a play in Beirut, here are 7 theaters you should know about.

1. Theatre Le Monnot in Achrafieh

Standing as one of Beirut’s most iconic cultural spots, Theatre Le Monnot programs local and international plays, exciting events, and has been working on making the theater crowd more inclusive.

2. Le Colisée (Lebanese National Theater) in Hamra

A Hamra landmark built in the 1940s, Le Colisée is one of Beirut’s oldest theaters. Recent restoration efforts have revived it as a public cultural space under the Lebanese National Theater project.

5. Théâtre du Boulevard in Ain El Remmeneh

6. Al Madina Theatre in Hamra

Founded by Nidal Al-Achkar in the 1990s, Al Madina is both a venue and an arts association that stages Lebanese and international work, runs exhibitions and hosts training and cultural initiatives. It’s a pillar of Beirut’s theater scene with a long record of programming.
