Lebanese Bistro Bērytī Wins Best International Restaurant in Barcelona

Seven years ago, Cindy Nehme and Pamela Siryani moved to Barcelona with nothing but a passion for sharing a piece of Lebanon. Though they didn’t speak Spanish or know anyone in Barcelona, they carried Beirut’s flavors, recipes, and hospitality with them.

They found a small spot in Gràcia and decided to turn it into a Lebanese restaurant called Bērytī. Food being the universal language, Cindy and Pamela used it to connect with people before they even learned Spanish. Every dish became a conversation, a way for locals and newcomers to understand Beirut without words.

They relied on inherited recipes and imported many ingredients directly from Lebanon, sourced from artisans and women producers. Soon, the bistro became a gathering spot for Lebanese newcomers and locals curious about authentic flavors. Over time, Bērytī gained recognition for its simple, careful, and rooted in culture rather than trends.

On December 16, 2025, the Barcelona Gastronomic Society awarded Bērytī Best International Restaurant, honoring both the cuisine and the story behind it. Pamela says, “Every dish connects to our families. It’s our way of keeping Lebanon alive abroad.”

Cindy adds, “For many, Bērytī is the first place they feel seen, heard, and recognized in Barcelona.”

The bistro now serves as a quiet bridge between Beirut and Barcelona, a reminder of culture thriving far from home. Make sure to follow them on Instagram!
