After announcing its move out of Mar Mikhael, Souk El Tayeb has officially opened its new home in Jisr El Wati. The farmers’ market returns today on January 3rd, from 9 AM to 2 PM, with seasonal produce, local goods, and more community activities to come.
While the Mar Mikhael space is gone, the market’s mission, supporting local farmers, artisans, and producers, continues in its new neighborhood.
Souk El Tayeb’s move comes after years of anchoring the community in Mar Mikhael, where the market became more than a farmers’ market. Farmers from Akkar, the Bekaa, the South, and the Chouf shared seasonal produce, homemade goods, and crafts, connecting directly with Beirut residents in a space that felt like home.
The change has stirred conversation because a NokNok distribution center is reportedly taking over the Mar Mikhael spot. While NokNok provides a valuable service for on-demand deliveries, the shift replaces a community-driven cultural hub with a logistics-focused operation.
Regardless, we’re excited to continue supporting this community-driven initiative in its new location. Make sure to follow them on Instagram for more!
