During such difficult times, NGO Ahla Fawda is bringing moments of laughter and hope to displaced children in Beirut.
Many of these kids have experienced trauma, loss, and uncertainty, but for a few hours at a time, they can forget the war, play freely, and simply be children again at the EcoHub, home to Hamra’s eco-friendly playground, established by Ahla Fawda.
Volunteers are at the heart of this effort, guiding activities, playing alongside the children, and helping them express themselves through drawing, writing, and games. The space offers a safe, structured environment where children can engage, move, and interact, providing a small but meaningful sense of normalcy.
These relief efforts were made possible through the collaboration and support of organizations including AUB Neighborhood Initiative, Catalytic Action, We Deserve Better Foundation, Barzakh Space, and Procol Lebanon.
Beyond play, Ahla Fawda’s Dekkene, a community relief space providing free essential goods, remains open and fully mobilized. The organization has already supported three schools in Beirut hosting over 2,000 displaced individuals, with numbers continuing to rise. Families receive food, water, clothing, diapers, and blankets, while volunteers help deliver emotional and practical support.
