Culture During War: Beit Beirut Launches New Interactive Exhibition

During such difficult times, Beit Beirut decided to open its HKEELI exhibition in a bid to keep cultural conversations and spaces alive amid war. Their latest project after Allo, Beirut? is a space that encourages discussions on personal and collective memory.

HKEELI is also working on activities for displaced youth currently staying at nearby shelters and neighborhoods, but here’s what you can expect onsite.

Games & Creative Stations
Visitors can enjoy hands-on fun and artistic exploration at the games and creative stations located on the ground floor. These are available daily from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 AM until 4 PM.

Daily Workshops
HKEELI offers workshops every day from 10 AM until 4 PM, giving visitors the chance to learn new skills, experiment with creative projects, and engage with the exhibition in a practical way.

Kids’ Movies
Children can enjoy movie screenings every day at 2 PM, offering a fun and relaxed activity for younger visitors.

Guided Tours
Daily guided tours run at 10:30 AM and 1 PM, providing insight into the exhibition, its stories, and the historical context of Beit Beirut.

Storytelling Sessions
Every Friday at 1 PM, storytelling sessions are held for children aged 5 to 7. These interactive readings bring stories to life and encourage imagination.

Critical Thinking Workshops
Teens aged 14 to 16 can participate in critical thinking workshops every Wednesday at 1 PM, designed to foster discussion, analysis, and reflection.

The accessibility and protection of cultural spaces is extremely vital during such challenging times, as they provide a platform to keep discussions on war, solidarity, and collective memory active. HKEELI at Beit Beirut not only offers creative and educational activities for youth but also ensures that the stories, histories, and lessons of Lebanon’s past remain present in public consciousness.
