A café and bar in Lebanon is now offering something you won’t actually find on the menu, but it could make a big difference on a night out.
If you’re ever spending a night out at House Of Music HQ in Beit Meri, you’ll spot a sign in the bathroom about their Angel Shots. You can check out the sign here:
Despite the name, an Angel Shot isn’t a drink. It is a safety signal used to alert bar staff that you need assistance without drawing unwanted attention to yourself.
By using specific “orders,” you can communicate exactly what kind of help you need:
– Neat: Bar staff will escort you to your car
– On the Rocks: Bar staff will call you a cab or uber
– With lime: Bar staff will call the police
Just walk up to the bar, make your order, and the staff will handle it discreetly.

The concept gained global momentum over the last decade as venues prioritized guest safety, particularly for women or anyone navigating a high-pressure social situation. Ultimately, the goal is to provide a graceful exit. Whether a date is going south or a stranger is being overly persistent, an Angel Shot allows a guest to seek help without the fear of escalating the situation publicly.
While everyone heads out with the intention of just having a good time, uncomfortable situations can still happen. It’s unfortunate that these precautions are necessary, but having a safety measure makes all the difference.
We hope to see more bars around Lebanon adding Angel Shots as a safety measure. Make sure to check out the #Awareness section for more content like this.
