Tucked into the lower street of Mar Mikhael, Beyond Organic has quietly become one of those places that does a lot without ever feeling crowded or chaotic. Part cafe, part organic shop, part plant store, it is the kind of spot where you can pick up your vegetables for the week, sit down for a proper breakfast, and leave with a new houseplant, all in the same visit.
Locally owned, the concept starts on a farm in Damour, where the team grows their own produce without synthetic pesticides. What comes out of the ground there ends up in the daily baskets sold at the cafe, a rotating mix of seasonal vegetables, fruits, and greens that changes with what is actually in season. The baskets are also available for delivery around the city, and every Saturday the produce also makes an appearance at Souk el Tayeb.
Inside, the space itself has been designed to slow you down. With construction spearheaded by the ecological design company A True Triangle, Beyond Organic’s interiors lean into natural materials, earthy textures, and handcrafted details, the kind that feels breathable rather than styled. It is a fitting backdrop for what Beyond Organic is actually offering: fresh produce, flowers and plants, healthy meals, good coffee, and quiet corners to sit with a book or get some work done.
Breakfast is where the place really shows off. Expect a spread built for sharing: labneh with herbs, foul, a jar of wild greens, olives, fresh vegetables, eggs cooked simply, warm bread straight off the saj, and a plate of arugula with tomatoes and cheese. It is generous, unfussy, and clearly built around what is fresh that day rather than a fixed menu.
Every Thursday from 3 to 7pm, Beyond Organic also opens its doors for a weekly creative session. There is no entry fee and no formal class, just a space to draw, paint, and experiment alongside other people who want to create. Extra materials are available on site, so showing up empty handed is not a problem.
Between the farm baskets, the breakfast table, the plants by the window, and the open studio on Thursdays, Beyond Organic has built something that feels less like a single business and more like a small ecosystem. If you are looking for an excuse to slow down in the middle of the city, this is a good one.
