The Blind Spark Launches the MENA Region’s First Speed Dating Website

The Blind Spark is making us excited about dating again with their launch of the MENA region’s first speed dating website, so here’s how it works, how to sign up, and what you should know before giving it a shot.

Why is dating culture still a taboo when everyone does it? Regardless of whether you’re dating to marry, have fun, or meet new people, there seems to be a lot of negativity around the simple and very human act of dating.

Adam Zaydan, the young Lebanese entrepreneur behind The Blind Spark, wanted to bring back the excitement of meeting someone new without the usual swiping, profile-stalking, and pressure to make a good first impression. The concept puts conversation first, giving singles a chance to connect before they know what the other person looks like.

What happens during The Blind Spark?

Four dates, a series of table rotations, and absolutely no swiping involved. Unlike traditional dating apps that are passive and entirely superficial, you’ll meet your dates face-to-face and get to know them through conversation before seeing what they look like. When the time is up, you move on to the next table and start a new conversation.

How to register

1. Head to The Blind Spark’s website and enter your personal information. You’ll be asked to describe your type, choose the age range you’d like to meet, and introduce yourself. You also upload a photo, but don’t worry. The photo will not be shared with your date. The point is to connect in person.

2. After you finish signing up, you’ll receive an approval via email. Once you log in, you can get access to your table rotations.

3. You’ll actually be going on four dates, going from one table to the other after time runs out. Their professional matchmaking system actually analyzes all the information you put in to find the perfect matches for you.

4. After the event is over, you can login to your account and choose who you’d like to match with based on how much you enjoyed your speed dates.

Dating doesn’t have to start with the perfect profile, a clever opening line, or hours of trying to figure someone out through a screen. Anonymity is a big part of The Blind Spark’s approach, too. Your identity is revealed in person, giving you the chance to connect through conversation before appearances enter the picture.
