Picnic in Horsh Beirut

Saturday, Jan 21, 2012
1:00pm -> 3:00pm
Horsh Beirut
Horsh Beirut, the largest green park in Beirut, is a public property and a right for all. Yet, it has been closed for public for more than twenty years and only few people are granted the right to access it.

After renovating Horsh Beirut ten years ago, the municipality still did not open it for public and never provided legitimate reason for this decision.

We demand a clear decision to open Horsh Beirut and provide us with a date for its opening. Our right to public spaces is inalienable, and we have the right to access it with no restrictions.

We will not stop campaigning for our right to have public spaces in Beirut. Green parks, especially in a polluted city like Beirut, is a basic social and public health need, as well as an essential space for interaction among citizens who have always been victims of political and sectarian divisions.

Special Formula:Did all of you visit Horsh Beirut? And for those who did, did you get enough?

The answer is definitely no!

For that we thought it is time for all of us to just put on our suitable clothes and visit the park to stroll between its trees and grass.

Join us on a visit to learn more about the park, to discover its beauty and its benefits, and to enjoy sitting in nature among trees and birds.

Be prepared for the next visit on Saturday the 21st of January for couple of hours.

Let us hope we get a beautiful sunny weather 🙂
