In honor of the 14th International LAU Theatre Festival, a group of students from the International Association for Creation and Training (I-act) in Egypt will be putting on a performance called, “Lines from Egypt’s Diaries.”
Directed by:
Mahmoud Aboudoma
Synopsis:
Lines from Egypt’s Diaries is a musical, dramatic performance, in which instrumental music, song, poetry recitation and acting blend. The work is artistically based on poems in colloquial as well as classical Arabic (fosha), written in the 1970s and 1980s by Egyptian poets and writers. The poems predicted the 25th of January revolution, as their lines called for change and social justice. These writers and poets died before they could see the dream of the revolution come true.
The performance will take place at the Gulbenkian Theatre at LAU.
