The Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Beirut and the Metropolis Association pay tribute to contemporary Italian cinema in this special film series. A total of nine recent Italian productions will be screened at Metropolis Empire Sofil over the course of this festival.
The program focuses on Nanni Moretti, an emblematic figure of contemporary Italian cinema, with the screening of The Son’s Room, and his latest film, We Have a Pope.
The festival will also highlight the works of several established filmmakers including the movie, Gomorrah, which skyrocketed the career of Matteo Garrone. There’s also:Magnificent Presence, the newest feature by Turkish-Italian filmmaker Ferzan Özpetek; One Hundred Nails, the last feature directed by Ermanno Olmi; and the very singular Le Quattro Volte by Michelangelo Frammartino.
Entrance fee: 40,000 LL for festival pass; 6,000 LL per screening
