The Metropolis Association and the Embassy of Denmark in Beirut are proud to present the second edition of the Danish Feast. Danish Cinema has received a lot of international recognition over the years and this year’s Danish Feast is giving the Lebanese audience a taste of both contemporary and classical award winners and nominees.
This edition will open with double Silver Bear winner “A Royal Affair”, which sold more than half a million tickets in Denmark and with renowned actor Mads Mikkelsen as Dr. Struensee and debuting Mikkel Boe Folsgaard as the mad king Christian VII.
A cycle that will present three features contemporaries films such as: “The Hunt” starring also Mads Mikkelsen who won the award for Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, “In a Better World”, winner of the Academy Award and the Golden Globes in 2011 for Best Foreign Language Film directed by the prominent film director Susanne Bier and “We Shall Overcome” which became the most successful Danish Film in 2006 and was among other awards honored with the Crystal Bear at Berlin Film Festival the same year.
The classical feature film “Waltzing Regitze” by Kaspar Rostrup’s which was very much acclaimed and honored in Montreal and Lubeck will be shown during the event and for which Rostrup was nominated at the Academy Award for Best Director.
Finally, the screening of the documentary “The Ambassador”, by the fearless international journalist Mads Brügger, which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Documentary category at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012
They are also presenting a special tribute to the Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard on the bicentenary of his birth. They are showing two short films inspired by Kierkegaard, “See Me Now” and “Dollface”, created by young Danish filmmakers, preceded by an oral intervention on Kierkegaard and his works.
