Lake Qaraoun is an artificial lake located in the southern region of the Beqaa Valley
It was created near the Qaraoun village in 1959 using a 200 foot damn constructed in the Litani River. An estimated 20,000 migratory birds visit the lake annually. Remarkably, the lake’s reservoir is used to power nearby homes and contributes to the area’s domestic water supply.
