In this session, you will learn:
– Introduction, featuring a brief history of manga and differences between portraits and manga art.
– Studying other artists’ works, pulling out artistic features, and analyzing expressions to eventually make out body structure and movements using stick figures.
– Understanding body sizes and “head counts” – proportions of the unisex body.
– Understanding body shapes and forms – turning stick figures to actual characters.
– Character design — creating your character’s personality and background before drawing.
– Rough drafts and practices.
