Drypoint Etching Workshop

From Mar 23 to Mar 24, 2018
5:00pm -> 9:00pm
Contempo Artlounge

Drypoint Etching (Gravure à la pointe sèche) is an Art Technique that belongs to the category of Intaglio printmaking.

In this technique, the lines of a selected image are incised into a metal plate with a very sharp point of steel creating on each side of the lines small grooves with raised edges called barbs. At the time of Inking, these barbs retain the ink, giving the possibility of producing a printed image with a velvety black appearance.

Among others Durer, Rembrandt and Picasso, Jiri John, Chagall and Buffet used the dry point sometimes in combination with other etching techniques.

The workshop provides the basics to the – etching technique:
– Drawing with a drypoint on a zinc plate,
– Inking
– Printing using the press
