Life and Nothing More: A Kiarostami/Panahi Retrospective

On the occasion of the Lebanese theatrical release of Abbas Kiarostami’s latest film, the award winning Certified Copy with Juliette Binoche, the Metropolis Association invites you to discover acclaimed films by the renowned Iranian filmmaker, all on 35mm. The retrospective includes Taste of Cherry (Golden Palm, 1997 Cannes Film Festival), The Wind Will Carry Us (Silver Lion, 1999 Venice Film Festival) as well as his early features The Traveller (1974) and Where Is the Friend’s House (1987) and some of his very first shorts.

A special tribute will also be paid to established filmmaker Jaafar Panahi who has been arrested in December by the Iranian authorities and banned from making films for the next 20 years. Three of his films awarded at the prestigious Cannes and Berlin festivals will be screened at the end of the event.
