Lebanese Engineers To Begin Producing Ventilators Locally
As Lebanon grapples with the coronavirus outbreak, a shortage of much-needed ventilators and other respiratory supplies has posed additional grave challenges for local hospitals.
In response, the school of engineering at the Lebanese American University, LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine, American University of Beirut Medical Center, Polytextile, S&AS controllers, and Technica joined forces with the Lebanese American University Medical Center-Rizk Hospital as part of an initiative lead by Lebanese industrialists and engineers to manufacture ventilators locally.
The project is specifically focused on producing ventilators used in critical cases that entail intubation, required by approximately 3-5% of COVID-19 patients.
Amazing initiative!
