9 European Movies Filmed In Lebanon

Since we love all things Lebanon, we thought we’d round up some European movies filmed right here at home! Naturally, these were all filmed a while ago when Lebanon had fewer politicians and more greenery. Check them out!

1. Super Bitch – Italy (1973)



An undercover cop infiltrates a drug syndicate and pits the members against each other and the corrupt members of the police force.


2. Die bleierne Zeit – Germany (1981)



Two sisters both fight for women’s rights. Juliane is a journalist and Marianne a terrorist. When Marianne is jailed, Juliane feels obligated to help her despite their differing views on how to live.


3. L’uomo del colpo perfetto – Italy (1967)



A large number of diamonds are stolen during shipment from Lebanon to Amsterdam, and insurance agent Steve Norton must recover the diamonds and find out who did it.


4. Il marchio di Kriminal – France (1968)



The film was shot in Rome and on a cruise between Genoa to Beirut, Baalbeck, Byblos, and Madrid. It tells the story of the search for a couple of missing paintings by world-renowned artists.


5. Liebe, Luft und lauter Lügen – Germany (1959)

A comedy about the secret marriage of a pilot and a member of cabin crew who are about to get divorced.


6. Uno de los dos no puede estar equivocado – Spain (2008)



The Devil returns to Earth in search of Almudena, a love long lost, now a TV director, and shows her what could have been.


6. Abenteuer in Libanon – Germany (1954)

No idea what this is about…no plot available. Guessing a bunch of Germans having an adventure in Lebanon?


7. Minder fra Palæstina – Denmark (2018)

Mohammed Khatib is a corpulent, charismatic and uncompromising man. Having lived and worked as a doctor in the Shatila camp in Beirut for many years, he has now dedicated his life to collecting historic artifacts, documenting the Palestinian cultural heritage.


8. Ombre dal fondo – Italy (2016)



Domenico Quirico, correspondent for the daily “La Stampa”, was abducted in Syria in 2013 and released after 152 days of captivity. Here he evokes a career spent collecting fragments of other people’s lives, and journeys back to the cell where he found himself sharing the fate of the people he writes about. Parts shot in Lebanon.


9. Carlos – France/Germany – (2010)



A biographical film/miniseries about the life of the 1970s Venezuelan Carlos the Jackal and his involvement in orchestrated attacks around Europe and his fighting alongside Palestinian fighters.
