Pharmacies In Lebanon Call For Complete Closure Tomorrow
The worsening economic situation and the disaster that is the dollar to LBP exchange rate has forced pharmacies to call for a strike and complete closure tomorrow, March 18th.
The head of the Syndicate of Pharmacist Ghassan Al-Amin also called for a general protest in front of the Ministry of Health, as drug security is no longer tangible after the huge collapse in the health sector.
The health and pharmaceutical sectors are under great threat due to the current financial crisis, and the outcome of this negligence could be catastrophic. Since the beginning of the financial crisis, pharmacies have had difficulty maintaining stock, and are being forced to sell at the official exchange rate of 1,500 LL, a far cry from the black market rate of 14,000 LL.
