Akkar’s Forest Fire: The Aftermath
Qobayat has witnessed a massive large fires for the past three days, affecting its heavily-forested areas and residential districts.
72 hours later, the fires have reportedly been contained, but Civil Defense units are still on the scene trying to extinguish it completely. As of Friday morning, the Akkar region is virtually unrecognizable, as seen by Twitter users sharing photos the forest fire aftermath. Previously marked by lush greenery and dense forests, it stands barren now.
