Google Doodle Honors First Lebanese Woman To Study Medicine Abroad
Today’s Google Doodle hit close to home for many of us as it was in celebration of Dr. Saniya Habboub, the first Lebanese woman to study medicine abroad.
Dr. Habboub graduated from med school back on June 10th, 1931, receiving an MD in gynecology and obstetrics and laying the groundwork for Lebanese women and girls who were interested in pursuing education abroad.
Dr. Habboub established a clinic in Downtown Beirut in 1933, where she practiced for many decades.
