A year has passed since the devastating fuel tanker explosion in Akkar that took the lives of over 30 citizens. The tragedy continued to claim lives of multiple people who were severely injured after they were left untreated since hospitals were unequipped to provide proper treatment for severe burn cases as a result of the financial crisis.
The government has yet to issue a comprehensive list of names, and while outrageous, the official August 4 blast list of victims has halted at 191, even after the death toll rose to 230+ over the past two years.
A year following the Akkar massacre, we are still attempting to compile a list of victims.

Akkar is only a small example of the government’s criminal negligence as it has been mistreated and robbed by its elected deputies with promises for projects that were never built and an explosion that has killed and injured many.
