Ogero Employees Demand Salaries At Sayrafa Rate Amid Strike

This morning, a large number of Ogero subscribers awoke to their internet connections and phone lines being down across the country.

It was quickly revealed that the reason for what is being described as a country-wide shutdown is a strike that had been announced by Ogero employees two days ago. The strike halted all maintenance works on the network, as well the operation of Ogero’s 1515 hotline.

In June of 2022, Ogero increased the price of its subscriptions and bundles nearly 2.5X, it is being said that employees who are still being paid at the 1,500 rate are demanding that the same increase be applied to their salaries.

Sources from Annahar reveal that the employees’ new demands revolve around being paid at the Sayrafa rate.

The Ogero employees revealed that they refuse to resume work until an agreement is reached with the Minister of Telecom in Lebanon’s caretaker government, Johnny Corm.

Despite skyrocketing inflation and the Lebanese Lira losing over 90% of its value, many employee salaries have remained largely unchanged which has left many under the poverty line.
