Update on Sally Hafez’s Case, Two Banks Stormed So Far Today
We know it can be hard to keep up with everything happening in the country, so here is a quick round up of the clash between depositors and banks in Lebanon.
Update on Sally Hafez’s Case
According to the Association of Depositors, Judge Charbel Abou Samra has ruled to release Sally Hafez and Ekram Hafez on bail with a 6 month no-fly order. Sally and her associates had stormed BLOM Bank in Sodeco back in September, managing to retrieve $13,000 from her frozen funds.
Hafez was deemed a hero for standing in the face of the faulty banking system in Lebanon.

Yehya Badereddine Storms BankMed Nabatieh
At around 12:00 PM, depositor Yehya Badereddine stormed BankMed’s Nabatieh branch to demand access to his frozen funds. In a video shared from inside the bank, Badereddine threatens suicide if he does not receive his money within 30 minutes. It is unclear how much he is demanding from the bank at this time.
According to LBCI, Badereddine is still at the bank and is refusing to negotiate with anyone.

Mostafa Faour Storms Banque Libano-Française in Khalde
At around 1:00 PM, depositor Mostafa Faour stormed Banque Libano-Française’s Khalde branch. According to social media reports, Faour is demanding access to his deposits in order to be able to pay for his children’s tuition.
He is still at the bank till this moment, with no agreement reached yet.
