Barbie Release Date Postponed Till September 7

Will the Barbie movie ever come out? The international blockbuster’s release date has once again been postponed in Lebanon, with it now tentatively set for September 7. As reported by L’Orient Today, Grand Cinemas’ Carly Ramia has stated that the movie’s Lebanon premiere has been pushed to September 7, a 2nd delay after the initial postponement from July 21 to August 31.

Originally slated for the famed Barbenheimer day of July 21, the release of the Barbie was first postponed without any real explanation. The second delay comes after Minister of Culture Mohamad Mortada pushed to ban the film earlier in the month, citing that it “promotes ways of life that are in violation of religion and morals.”

The movie, which stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, has grossed over $1 billion worldwide, with international audiences clamouring to watch Greta Garwig’s pink sensation. It has also been released in neighbouring countries such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

If it was to be banned, Barbie would join a list of 7 movies banned in Lebanon in the last 2 years, the latest being Spiderman: Across The Spider-Verse (2023). For many fans, the delays have already caused measurable disappointment. The movie is set to come out digitally on September 5, so Lebanon would be receiving it quite late if it was to be released on September 7.

We’ve been hyped for the Barbie movie since day one, so despite everything we will be there when it comes out. And if it doesn’t we always have Barbie at home right guys? Right?
