Alyarz Pet Club made a horrifying discovery when they found over 10 of the stray dogs they had been caring for in the Karantina area killed.
APC, which has been providing the dogs with necessary veterinary care and vaccinations, confirmed that the dogs consumed Lanatte poison, a globally banned toxic substance. According to Lebanon Files, only two dogs, Hummer and Lea, have survived the attack and are currently being treated.
This incident follows a similar case a month ago when around 30 dogs under APC’s care mysteriously disappeared from the area. Despite repeated appeals, port authorities provided no information on their whereabouts.
Animal rights activists and welfare groups are demanding accountability. The Beirut Port administration and the municipality have yet to respond, despite clear violations of Lebanon’s animal protection laws and Ministry of Agriculture directives against poisoning.
We’ll continue to share updates as the case of the Karantina dog poisonings progresses.
