Beirut Loses a Gentle Icon: Remembering Yehya, the Flower Vendor

If you’ve been out in Beirut’s bars and clubs over the past two decades, chances are you crossed paths with Yehya, the beloved flower seller who filled our nights with the scent of roses.

Known to many as “Flower Power” for his quirky catchphrase, Yehya was a familiar and cherished presence in the city’s nightlife. With a bright smile, he offered jasmine necklaces and roses to couples, friends, and strangers alike.

A part of the city’s rhythm, Yehya brought moments of warmth and tenderness to even the most chaotic nights. Whether you were bar-hopping, out dancing, or simply walking through the city streets, Yehya was always there to make your night a little softer.

Journalist Ricardo Karam announced Yehya’s passing on Instagram, writing: “He was part of our nights. In every club, every bar, every corner of Beirut’s vibrant nightlife, there he was… Yehya (Flower Power) was a symbol of resilience and grace. He accompanied us through an era, one that now feels a little more distant. With his passing, a piece of our innocence goes with him.”

Even during Lebanon’s hardest times, Yehya kept showing up. Though he had been ill, he never stopped checking in on friends and familiar faces. He was often seen alongside his devoted mother, who remained by his side through everything.

With his passing, Beirut’s nightlife loses one of its most recognizable and loved figures. The streets and clubs will feel different without him.

Rest in peace, Yehya. You will live on in every flower that decorates our beloved city. A huge thanks to Ricardo Karam for shining a light on such a kind soul.
