Tarboosh Jedde Maallak: Beirut’s New Play You Can’t Miss

Beirut theater kids, there’s an exciting new play coming this September! Tarboosh Jedde Maallak is officially coming to the stage at Le Monnot Theater. This highly anticipated play promises to take audiences on an unforgettable emotional journey. It captures both the heartbreak and hope of life in Lebanon and beyond.

What it’s about

Tarboosh Jedde Maallak follows Hala and Ibrahim, two lovers separated by war, exile, and the weight of their ambitions. Set between 1980 and 2025, the play traces Hala’s journey across Paris, Montreal, and Dubai, where she keeps Lebanon alive in her heart despite the distance.

At the same time, Ibrahim stays behind, navigating the trials of a homeland that constantly tests its people, yet he clings to hope and the dream of reunion.

Created by Marwa Khalil and Riad Chirazi with Junaid Zeineldine bringing the story to life on stage, Tarboosh Jedde Maallak showcases intimate storytelling through decades of change, longing, and resilience. It captures the enduring pull of love, memory, and the idea of home.
