Teta Approved? This Lebanese Chef Made A Makdous Martini

Who remembers the janerik cocktail that went viral earlier this year for being the drink of the summer? Chef Michael Saab is back with a new drink, but this time, with makdous.

The Makdous Martini might not be one of his proudest creations (given that Michael decided NOT to share the recipe), but we’re honestly willing to give it a try. We’re not sure how he created it, but it looks like he went the vodka martini route rather than the classic gin.

We need Michael to confirm whether this is the correct recipe: Cîroc vodka (this specific brand makes vodka from French grapes), dry vermouth, and makdous. Considering most people make makdous with chili, he probably didn’t have to add that into the recipe.

Seems like it might be on the savory side.

But we’re sure every Lebanese teta is stocked up on makdous for the season, so you can probably try this Makdous Martini recipe at home. Just don’t tell her you wasted her good makdous if it doesn’t turn out great. If you do…good luck, Charlie.

Here are other recipes he shared recently that you could also try (that probably won’t piss your teta off):

The Arak Basil

Recipe:

Arak
Basil leaves
Lemon juice
Water
Sugar

This might impress the Arak purist uncle at the family function, especially if you bring it out when you’re enjoying la7me nayye.

The Kabis Cocktail

Recipe:

Pickles
Lemon juice
Tequila
Triple sec liquor
Salt
Lemon zest
Chili flakes

Shawarma extra toum…but hold off on the kabis. We got a drink for that.
