Did You Know Lebanon Has an Ultimate Frisbee Team?

Lebanon’s love for sports isn’t just limited to basketball and football…did you know that we have an ultimate frisbee team?

Ultimate frisbee, officially called ultimate and developed back in 1968 in New Jersey, is a non-contact team sport where players throw a flying disc (frisbee) by hand.

The game involves two teams of seven players each competing on a field similar in length to a football field. The field has a narrower width and “end zones” at each end. The team scores when a player catches the disc in the opposing team’s end zone.

Here’s what a game of ultimate frisbee looks like (and yes, it’s a lot harder than it looks):

The Lebanese Flying Disc Association (LFDA) is behind the country’s ultimate frisbee scene.LFDA promotes disc sports across Lebanon, building a vibrant community fueled by sportsmanship and fierce, friendly competition.

This year, the Lebanese Flying Disc Association announced their participation in the World Beach Ultimate Championships (WUBC) 2025. It’s taking place from November 16 to 22, 2025 in Portimão, Portugal.

This is a major event in the disc sports calendar, gathering teams from all over the world to compete on sandy shores in fast-paced, exciting matches. It’s a fantastic opportunity for Lebanon to showcase their growing talent and sports culture on an international stage.

Best of luck to our team! 🇱🇧
